Some Factory amplifiers requier a 5 volt signal to turn on the amplifier. When replacing the OEM radio with an aftermarket most aftermarket radios provide a 12 volt remote signal. This 12volt to 5volt step down converts that signal to 5 volts and prevents any popping that may occur.
